What an awful way to start the month of June.
Before it was #justiceforTina now its  #justiceforUwa
Everyone is protesting and asking the government to do something about this situation. And as usual we hear the same old story "we would ensure that the persons involved will face the wrath of the law". And surprisingly after a while we don't tend to hear anything about this cases, they all die down. Capital punishments are not meted out to the persons who carry out such acts.
The act of rape is now carried out anywhere, at home, school, church, offices etc. Nowhere is safe for the girl-child. Young ladies are being left to face a lifetime trauma of an act carried out by an irresponsible person, an act they never agreed to, an act they never prepared for. They end up getting STDs, unwanted pregnancies, some even die in the process. The girl child is still not being protected.
For how long is this gonna continue?
For how long are we going to fight for the protection of the girl-child?
For how long will the female child continue  to live in fear of sexual abuse?
We have been taught to dress properly, avoid unnecessary relationships with the opposite sex, stop keeping bad company and lots more, yet the rate at which the Ladies are being raped is on the increase.
Won't it be better if we take a pause and turn to the male folks.
Teach them that rape doesn't make a responsible man.
Teach them that Ladies are not meant to be used to satisfy their sexual urge at a particular time.
Teach them that there are both physical and spiritual consequences for the act of rape.
Teach them that Ladies are to be protected.
Teach them that they can look at a Lady and think of other important things to discuss with her than sleeping with her.
Indecent dressing,an attractive body, and many more reasons are never enough to back up a case of rape. In fact, rape has no legal backing.
The government should please take action on this, its disheartening to see ladies who had plans for their future being destroyed because of some irresponsible hooligans.
